Britney Spears unleashes on Kevin Federline for 'attacking' her in tell-all memoir

Britney Spears is not staying silent.
The 43-year-old pop icon has unleashed a fiery response to her ex-husband Kevin Federline after early excerpts from his upcoming memoir began circulating online, portraying their brief but turbulent marriage in a deeply unflattering light.

In his book — reportedly titled The Other Side of Fame — Federline describes their relationship as a “whirlwind of chaos,” suggesting that Spears’ mental health struggles and fame “took over everything.” He claims that during the couple’s two-year marriage (2004–2006), Spears “spiraled out of control,” painting himself as a victim of her celebrity lifestyle.

But Spears, never one to shy away from defending herself in recent years, took to Instagram late Thursday night to set the record straight. In a series of posts that have since gone viral, she accused Federline of “rewriting history” and “using my name again for attention.”

“After everything I’ve endured — the conservatorship, the media bullying, the loss of privacy — the last thing I deserve is another man cashing in on my story,” she wrote.
“Kevin, please stop attacking me in interviews and books. If you’re seeking redemption, find it without dragging me down.”

A Marriage Under the Spotlight

Spears and Federline’s marriage was one of the most heavily publicized celebrity unions of the 2000s. Their romance, which began after just three months of dating, captivated tabloids and fans alike. At the time, Spears was at the peak of her global superstardom, while Federline was a backup dancer making his way in the entertainment world.

The couple married in September 2004 and welcomed two sons — Sean Preston (now 20) and Jayden James (now 19) — before divorcing in 2006. Their split quickly devolved into a high-profile custody battle that played out across headlines, paparazzi chases, and televised interviews.

Spears’ struggles in the years following — including her 2007 breakdown and subsequent 13-year conservatorship — have since been reexamined in documentaries, books, and her own bestselling memoir, The Woman in Me (2023).

Federline, who has largely stayed out of the spotlight in recent years, appears to be stepping back into it with his new memoir — a move many fans have called opportunistic.

“He’s Capitalizing on Her Trauma”

According to sources close to Spears, the singer feels betrayed that Federline is “revisiting old wounds” for publicity.

“Britney sees this as yet another person from her past trying to cash in,” one insider told People. “She’s hurt, not just angry. They share children, and she wishes he’d focus on them, not the past.”

In recent months, Spears has been vocal about her desire for peace. Following the end of her conservatorship in November 2021, she emphasized that she was “focused on healing” and learning to “forgive people who hurt me.”

That effort, she implied, has now been derailed.

“It’s like every time I move forward, someone from my past pulls me back into their chaos,” she wrote on social media. “I’ve been silenced for so long — I won’t be silent again.”
