Crime Report: October 1, 2025

Law enforcement in Arlington County responded to a series of criminal incidents on September 30, 2025, ranging from unlawful entry and robbery to multiple larcenies and vehicle thefts. The day’s police blotter reflects a wide scope of activity, with both violent and property-related crimes under active investigation.

Unlawful Entry on Fillmore and Edgewood Streets

At approximately 11:08 p.m., police were dispatched to investigate a suspicious person near the 400 block of S. Edgewood Street. Officers determined that the suspect had allegedly jumped fences of several residences before making his way to the 300 block of S. Fillmore Street.

Responding officers observed the man exiting a residence and detained him after a brief struggle. During a search, police recovered brass knuckles, leading to further charges. The suspect was evaluated by medics before being taken into custody. He has been identified as Todd Bruner, 56, of Arlington, VA. Bruner faces multiple counts, including Unlawful Entry (x2), Carrying a Concealed Weapon (x2), and Possession of Blackjacks.

Armed Robbery at Joyce Street Business

Earlier in the evening, at around 8:48 p.m., police were called to the 1100 block of S. Joyce Street for a reported larceny. Investigators determined that a male suspect entered a store, concealed merchandise, and left without payment. When confronted by an employee, the suspect implied possession of a weapon before fleeing on foot with the stolen items.

The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 40 years old, 6’0”–6’3” tall, weighing 180–200 pounds, dressed entirely in black, and carrying a blue shopping bag. Despite a thorough canvass of the area, police did not locate the suspect. The case remains active.

Assaults and Batteries

Police documented multiple assault and battery cases during the day. These included:

  • 1000 block of N. Quincy Street
  • 4500 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive
  • 1500 block of Columbia Pike

In each case, officers responded quickly, collected statements, and initiated follow-up investigations. The outcomes of these incidents remain pending, with suspects in some cases still unidentified.

Larceny Cases Reported

Thefts remained a recurring theme throughout the day, with officers responding to multiple larceny-related calls. Incidents were recorded at:

  • 1100 block of S. Hayes Street
  • 1900 block of Clarendon Boulevard
  • 3300 block of Wilson Boulevard
  • 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard
  • 2400 block of Richmond Highway
  • 3700 block of Columbia Pike
  • 2200 block of Wilson Boulevard
  • 5100 block of 7th Road S.
  • 1000 block of N. Fillmore Street
  • 2900 block of S. Glebe Road

In several of these cases, shoplifting and thefts from vehicles were reported. Police emphasized the importance of securing personal property and encouraged residents to remain vigilant.

Stolen Property and Vehicle Thefts

Another notable trend was the recovery of stolen property and reports of stolen vehicles.

  • Officers responded to the 3000 block of S. Woodrow Street, where stolen items were located and further investigation is underway.
  • Two stolen vehicles were reported:
    • 2024 Blue Jeep Wrangler (MS MDG490) from the 4200 block of 31st Street S.
    • 2023 White Kia Sportage (VA TRN3901) from the 3800 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive

Police are reviewing surveillance and license plate reader data to track the vehicles’ movements.

Fraud and Suspicious Activity

Reports of fraud and suspicious activity also surfaced across Arlington, with incidents documented on:

  • 1600 block of S. Eads Street
  • 1800 block of Columbia Pike
  • 2000 block of N. Adams Street
  • 6000 block of 22nd Street N.

Additionally, suspicious circumstances were reported at:

  • 600 block of N. Tazewell Street
  • 600 block of N. Irving Street
  • 5500 block of Columbia Pike

These cases highlight the growing presence of financial and online-related scams, which authorities continue to investigate.
