Hollywood’s “quirky couple” just crossed another line.
Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell, once hailed for their down to earth parenting, are now proudly raising their two daughters to be disrespectful. Shepard admits he is teaching his children to talk back, question authority, and disregard the usual boundaries that hold most families together.
In a newly resurfaced interview on Armchair Expert, Shepard did not just double down, he glorified it. “They do talk back and they are not respectful,” he said flatly. “They seem to have no kind of respect... and feel a little entitled.”
What is more disturbing is that Shepard sees this as a victory. “When they are 19 and their boss is a f**king creep,” he explained, “I want them to talk back. I want them to be disrespectful. I want them to always advocate for themselves, whether I think they are right or wrong.”
Critics are calling it reckless. Even Shepard’s close friend, stunned after watching Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 10, freely challenge adults, called the behavior “embarrassing.” Shepard did not flinch and proudly agreed.
“I can handle that,” he said. “Because I want this other thing for them as women.”
The revelation comes just days after another controversy when a resurfaced clip showed Shepard joking about “hitting” his wife, shortly after Bell’s own tone deaf joke about domestic violence went viral.
Together, the couple seem intent on rewriting what it means to be modern parents. But their version is starting to look more like chaos than progress.
Bell and Shepard once built their brand on relatability, the couple next door who made fame seem human. Now, they are daring the public to question whether this hands off rebellion is empowering or just plain dangerous.
