Kim Kardashian Opens Up About “Unsettling Feeling” That Led to Kanye West Divorce

Nearly three years after finalizing her divorce from Kanye “Ye” West, Kim Kardashian is revealing the emotional and financial strain that pushed her to end their six-year marriage. On the October 15 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, Kardashian described the challenges of navigating West’s mental health struggles and their impact on family life.

“There was just a lot of things that I wouldn't deal with,” she explained. “I didn't like the feeling of someone talking bad about my kids' grandmother, aunts—all of those feelings. If someone feels that way, then we shouldn't be together.” She recounted a particularly chaotic episode when West reportedly bought and gave away five Lamborghinis during a single mental health episode, leaving her unsure what she would encounter each day. “I didn't know what you're going to get when you wake up, and that's a really unsettling feeling,” she said.

Kardashian emphasized that the lack of stability affected her safety—both emotionally and financially. “You want to be super supportive and you want to help figure that out,” she said, “but when someone isn't willing to make changes that would be super healthy and beneficial, it makes it really hard to continue in a relationship that can be toxic.” She added that having children made the decision to leave even more complicated. “When you have kids, it's definitely harder to leave than it is to stay,” she explained. “But once you get to a place where you feel like it's not going to change or get better, then you have to make some serious choices.”

Kardashian, who shares North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6, with West, said her priority is maintaining a healthy co-parenting relationship. While the children live with her full time, she encourages them to spend time with their father when possible. “It’s not a kidnapping, it’s a divorce,” she clarified.

On the personal front, Kardashian says she is content being single and focused on raising her children. “I have my kids to raise…so I’m there 24/7,” she said. Yet she also teased that her eldest, North, has given her gentle permission to start dating again. “North had to say to me, ‘Mom…it's time to move on. You need to have a boyfriend now.’”
